Shtapura is a Ukrainian name; my wonderful parents were born in Soviet Ukraine. I was born in Haifa, Israel and moved to America at 3 years of age. I am not Jewish, but my name Avital is Hebrew. I am upset with Israel as well as the United States's decision in February 2024 in which they blocked a UN ceasefire. As a believer in Peace and the Friends Peace Testimony, I am a lifelong advocate for understanding the base of a problem and advocating for nonviolent conflict resolution. My goal is to foster a just world, where all cultures may share land and resources with respect, dignity, and joy.
